Splatter began as a group of five college students who came together to play music and bring musical entertainment to campus. Born out of the Keene State college jazz ensemble, Splatter's sound differs from its musician's backgrounds- most of which are classically trained. Splatter's sound consists of music across all genres- usually centering around punk, alternative and classic rock. Their catalog consists of covers of bands like Led Zeppelin, Skynyrd, and Green Day. Splatter instrumentation features three guitars, bass, drums, and two vocalists. Members include Jake Heisey and Owen Keyes on guitar, Julia Baer on guitar and vocals, Max Orio on Bass and vocals, and Emma Toscano on drums. Splatter's debut album, 101, emerged from Keene State college's Redfern art center, in rehearsal room 101. 101 paints a musical soundscape in which Splatter moves away from their past of selling out to frat crowds, and into exploring the depths of their musicianship.
